Day 0 (December 21, 2027): Arrival in Tanzania - Airport Transfer to Moshi

You will be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and privately transferred to your hotel in Moshi town. You'll meet our lead trekking expert for a comprehensive briefing and gear check before resting for the night.

Day 1 (December 22, 2027): Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Elevation: 5,380 ft to 9,350 ft
Distance: 11 km / 7 miles
Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
Habitat: Rain Forest
The journey from Moshi to Machame Gate takes about 1 hour. Starting from the park gate, you will hike through a winding trail in the dense rainforest up a ridge to Machame Camp.

Day 2 (December 23, 2027): Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp

Elevation: 9,350 ft to 12,500 ft
Distance: 5 km / 3 miles
Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
Habitat: Heath
Though shorter, today's hike is steeper. Ascend through open moorlands with stunning viewpoints overlooking Kibo peak and Mount Meru. High-altitude flora like giant groundsels and lobelias begin to appear.

Day 3 (December 24, 2027): Shira Cave to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

Elevation: 12,500 ft to 15,190 ft (down to 13,044 ft)
Distance: 10 km / 6 miles
Hiking Time: 6-7 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
Trek east up a ridge toward the striking volcanic formation of Lava Tower, then descend through the scenic Senecio Valley to Barranco Camp. This "climb high, sleep low" profile significantly boosts acclimatization.

Day 4 (December 25, 2027): Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Elevation: 13,044 ft to 13,106 ft
Distance: 5 km / 3 miles
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
Start Christmas Day by scaling the non-technical but thrilling Great Barranco Wall. Traverse ridges and valleys before dropping down into the lush Karanga Valley for a shorter acclimatization hike.

Day 5 (December 26, 2027): Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Elevation: 13,106 ft to 15,331 ft
Distance: 4 km / 2 miles
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
Leave Karanga and connect with the Mweka trail, climbing steadily to Barafu Hut. You have now completed the Southern Circuit, offering striking views of both Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Rest and dine early for summit night.

Day 6 (December 27, 2027): Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, Descent to Mweka Camp

Elevation: 15,331 ft to 19,341 ft (descent to 10,065 ft)
Distance: 18 km / 10 miles
Hiking Time: 13-14 hours
Habitat: Arctic
Begin your summit push around midnight under the stars. Navigate the grueling scree slope to Stella Point (18,900 ft) just in time for a breathtaking sunrise, then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa. Afterward, descend safely back down to Mweka Camp.

Day 7 (December 28, 2027): Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, Return to Moshi

Elevation: 10,065 ft to 5,380 ft
Distance: 10 km / 6 miles
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Habitat: Rain Forest
Complete your final descent through the lower rainforest to Mweka Gate to collect your official summit certificates. A private vehicle will drive you back to your hotel in Moshi for a celebratory rest.
