Day 0 (October 21, 2027): Arrival in Tanzania - Airport Transfer to Moshi

You will be greeted at Kilimanjaro International Airport and comfortably transferred to your hotel in Moshi town. Meet your lead mountain guide for a comprehensive pre-trek briefing and gear check before resting for your adventure ahead.

Day 1 (October 22, 2027): Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Elevation: 5,380 ft to 9,350 ft | Distance: 11 km/7 miles | Hiking Time: 5-7 hours | Habitat: Rain Forest

The drive from Moshi to Machame Gate takes roughly one hour, passing through local villages on the lower slopes. Leaving the park gate, you will trek through a dense, winding rainforest trail up a ridge leading directly to Machame Camp.

Day 2 (October 23, 2027): Machame Camp to Shira Cave
Elevation: 9,350 ft to 12,500 ft | Distance: 5 km/3 miles | Hiking Time: 4-6 hours | Habitat: Heath

A shorter yet steeper day of trekking. After breakfast, climb uphill past viewpoints showcasing the forests below, Kibo peak above, and Mount Meru in the distance. As altitude increases, vegetation transforms into striking high-altitude alpine plants such as Senecio kilimanjari and Lobelia deckenii.

Day 3 (October 24, 2027): Shira Cave to Lava Tower down to Barranco Camp
Elevation: 12,500 ft to 15,190 ft down to 13,044 ft | Distance: 10 km/6 miles | Hiking Time: 6-7 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert

Continue eastward up a ridge toward the striking volcanic formation of Lava Tower, then descend through the scenic Senecio Valley to Barranco Camp. While starting and ending at similar elevations, spending daytime hours at higher altitude significantly boosts acclimatization.

Day 4 (October 25, 2027): Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Elevation: 13,044 ft to 13,106 ft | Distance: 5 km/3 miles | Hiking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert

Descend into a ravine at the base of the formidable Great Barranco Wall, then scale the steep, non-technical cliff. Traverse a series of rolling hills and valleys before descending into the lush Karanga Valley and climbing up to Karanga Camp for a relaxed acclimatization day.

Day 5 (October 26, 2027): Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Elevation: 13,106 ft to 15,331 ft | Distance: 4 km/2 miles | Hiking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert

Depart Karanga and join the Mweka Trail junction leading up to the rocky alpine ridge of Barafu Hut. Completing the Southern Circuit here offers magnificent multi-angle views of the summit. Rest early and enjoy dinner to prepare for midnight summit attempts.

Day 6 (October 27, 2027): Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, Descent to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 15,331 ft to 19,341 ft, down to 10,065 ft | Distance: 18 km/10 miles | Hiking Time: 13-14 hours | Habitat: Arctic

Begin your final summit push around midnight under starry skies through challenging cold and wind. Pass Stella Point (18,900 ft) to witness a breathtaking sunrise over Mawenzi Peak before reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Afterward, descend through Barafu for lunch and continue down to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Day 7 (October 28, 2027): Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Elevation: 10,065 ft to 5,380 ft | Distance: 10 km/6 miles | Hiking Time: 3-4 hours | Habitat: Rain Forest

Complete your final descent through the lower rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you will receive your official summit certificates. A vehicle will transport you back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved celebration.
