Detailed Daily Itinerary

Day 0 (December 27, 2027): Arrival in Tanzania - Transfer to Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), our representative will transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. You will meet your lead mountain guide for a comprehensive gear check and pre-trek briefing before resting for the night.


Day 1 (December 28, 2027): Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Elevation: 5,380 ft to 9,350 ft | Distance: 11 km / 7 miles | Hiking Time: 5-7 hours | Habitat: Rain Forest
A short drive brings us from Moshi to Machame Gate. We begin trekking upward along a winding trail through the dense tropical rainforest canopy until we reach Machame Camp.


Day 2 (December 29, 2027): Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp
Elevation: 9,350 ft to 12,500 ft | Distance: 5 km / 3 miles | Hiking Time: 4-6 hours | Habitat: Heath
A shorter but steeper day of hiking. Vegetation thins out into open moorland, revealing sweeping views of Kibo peak, the plains below, and Mount Meru.


Day 3 (December 30, 2027): Shira Cave to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Elevation: 12,500 ft to 15,190 ft (down to 13,044 ft) | Distance: 10 km / 6 miles | Hiking Time: 6-7 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
We hike east up toward the towering volcanic formation of the Lava Tower before descending through the breathtaking Senecio Forest to Barranco Camp. This "climb high, sleep low" profile optimizes acclimatization.


Day 4 (December 31, 2027): Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Elevation: 13,044 ft to 13,106 ft | Distance: 5 km / 3 miles | Hiking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
We tackle the iconic Great Barranco Wall right after breakfast—a steep, non-technical scramble—before traversing rolling hills and descending into the lush Karanga Valley.


Day 5 (January 1, 2028): Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Elevation: 13,106 ft to 15,331 ft | Distance: 4 km / 2 miles | Hiking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
We connect with the Mweka Trail, pushing up rocky scree slopes to Barafu Hut. Enjoy an early dinner and rest up for your midnight summit push, framed by views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.


Day 6 (January 2, 2028): Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak & Descent to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 15,331 ft to 19,341 ft (down to 10,065 ft) | Distance: 18 km / 10 miles | Hiking Time: 13-14 hours | Habitat: Arctic
Starting around midnight, we ascend through the freezing arctic conditions toward Stella Point in time for a stunning sunrise over Mawenzi, continuing on to reach **Uhuru Peak** (19,341 ft). Afterward, we descend back down to Mweka Camp for our final night on the mountain.


Day 7 (January 3, 2028): Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate & Return to Moshi
Elevation: 10,065 ft to 5,380 ft | Distance: 10 km / 6 miles | Hiking Time: 3-4 hours | Habitat: Rain Forest
Our final descent takes us through the lower forest to Mweka Gate, where you will receive your official summit certificates before returning to Moshi for celebratory showers and relaxation.
