Bike trek is our new product of trekking the Kilimanjaro Mountain, Kilema route is the only route that Bike trek to Kilimanjaro Mountain can reach to the top of the Mount Kilimanjaro by mountain bike. With our experienced guides the whole trip to summit Mt Kilimanjaro 5895M, took 6 days with proper acclimatization.
This activity provides physical exercise and recreational use of the natural environment with minimum impact while enhancing visitors’ experience. Summit bound visitors will use Kilema route (19km) and cyclists will meet their porters at Horombo and continue to the summit

Tour Plan

Arrival in Tanzania - Transfer from Airport to Moshi
You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to Moshi town. You will meet our Kilimanjaro trekking expert who will brief you on your upcoming Kilimanjaro trekking, then rest until the next day morning.


Day 1: Marangu Gate / Kilema Gate (1,800 m) – Kilema Forest Camp (2,950 m)
Activity: Mountain Biking (100%)
Cycling Distance: Approx. 10 km
Vegetation Zone: Rainforest & Moorland

You will be picked up from your hotel at 8:30 AM and driven through Kilimanjaro’s lush, semi-tropical foothills to Marangu Gate. Here, you will complete park registration and obtain your climbing permits.
After registration, the drive continues to Kilema Gate, where you officially enter Kilimanjaro National Park. From this point, your cycling adventure begins.
The trail leads through dense rainforest, rich in birdlife and towering trees, before gradually opening into the lower moorland zone. The ride is scenic and steady, allowing your body to begin adjusting to the altitude.
You arrive at Kilema Forest Camp in the afternoon, where dinner and overnight accommodation are provided.
Day 2: Kilema Forest Camp (2,950 m) – Horombo Hut (3,720 m)
Activity: Mountain Biking (100%)
Cycling Distance: Approx. 9 km
Vegetation Zone: Moorland

After breakfast, you depart Kilema Forest Camp and continue cycling uphill toward Horombo Hut. Today’s route takes you fully into the moorland zone, characterized by wide views and unique high-altitude vegetation.
The trail is mostly rideable and steady, with the cycling taking approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on pace and weather.
Upon arrival at Horombo Hut, you enjoy a hot lunch, followed by time to rest and acclimatize. Dinner and overnight stay at Horombo Hut.
Day 3: Horombo Hut – Acclimatization Ride (Zebra Rocks) – Horombo Hut
Activity: Mountain Biking (90%)
Cycling Distance: Approx. 10 km
Vegetation Zone: Alpine Desert

This day is dedicated to acclimatization, which is essential for summit success. After breakfast, you begin a cycling excursion toward the famous Zebra Rocks, named for their distinctive black-and-white striped appearance.
The ride takes you into the alpine desert zone, where some sections are covered with small volcanic stones, requiring careful riding and occasional dismounts.
After reaching Zebra Rocks, you cycle back to Horombo Hut for lunch, rest, and overnight accommodation.
Day 4: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (4,703 m)
Activity: Mountain Biking (90%)
Vegetation Zone: Alpine Desert

After breakfast, you begin your ascent toward Kibo Hut, the base camp for your summit attempt. The route crosses a stark and dramatic alpine desert, offering excellent views of Mawenzi Peak and Kilimanjaro’s summit cone.
Most of the trail is rideable, although loose volcanic stones in some areas require extra care.
You arrive at Kibo Hut (4,703 m) in the afternoon. After an early dinner, you rest and prepare for the midnight summit ascent.
Day 5: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Horombo Hut (3,720 m)
Activity: Summit Ascent & Cycling Vegetation Zone: Alpine Desert & Ice Cap

You will be awakened around 12:00 midnight by your guides to begin the summit attempt. The ascent starts on foot, following a steep zigzag trail up loose volcanic scree.
After approximately 2 hours, you reach Hans Meyer Cave, where the gradient becomes steeper. You continue climbing for another 4 hours to Stella Point, located on the crater rim.
At Stella Point, you collect your bike from the porters and begin riding toward Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. Upon reaching the summit, you spend a few moments taking photos and celebrating your achievement.
You then ride back down to Kibo Hut. After lunch and a short rest, you continue with a 100% ride down to Horombo Hut, where dinner and overnight accommodation are provided.
Day 6: Horombo Hut (3,720 m) – Kilema Gate (1,800 m)
Activity: Mountain Biking (100%)
Vegetation Zone: Alpine Desert, Moorland & Rainforest

After a leisurely breakfast, you begin your final ride down from Horombo Hut to Kilema Gate, passing through changing vegetation zones—from alpine desert to moorland and finally lush rainforest.
Upon arrival at Kilema Gate, you are transferred to Marangu Gate for park checkout, then driven back to your hotel, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro cycling adventure.
