2027 Tour Plan & Itinerary
Arrival Day: August 17, 2027 – Airport Transfer to Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Participate in a pre-climb briefing with your lead guide and check your equipment before resting for the night.
Day 1: August 18, 2027 – Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Distance: 11 km / 7 miles | Hiking Time: 5–7 hours | Elevation: 5,380 ft to 9,350 ft | Habitat: Rain Forest.
Drive from Moshi through Machame village to the park gate for registration. Begin your trek through the dense rainforest up to Machame Camp.
Day 2: August 19, 2027 – Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp
Distance: 5 km / 3 miles | Hiking Time: 5–6 hours | Elevation: 9,350 ft to 12,500 ft | Habitat: Heath.
A short but steep hike taking you out of the forest into the moorland zone, offering sweeping views of Kibo peak and Mount Meru.
Day 3: August 20, 2027 – Shira Cave Camp via Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Distance: 10 km / 6 miles | Hiking Time: 6–8 hours | Elevation: 12,500 ft to 15,190 ft down to 13,044 ft | Vegetation: Alpine Desert.
Traverse underneath the Lava Tower following the high-altitude mountaineering principle of "walk high, sleep low" for optimal acclimatization.
Day 4: August 21, 2027 – Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Distance: 9 km / 5 miles | Hiking Time: 8–10 hours | Elevation: 13,044 ft to 15,331 ft | Vegetation: Alpine Desert.
Climb across desolate scree slopes up to Barafu High Camp. Rest early in preparation for the midnight summit push.
Day 5: August 22, 2027 – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Millennium Camp
Distance: 5 km ascent / 7 km descent | Hiking Time: 6–8 hours & 2–4 hours | Elevation: 15,331 ft to 19,341 ft & down to 12,434 ft | Vegetation: Arctic to Heath.
Begin your ascent at midnight via Stella Point to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m) at sunrise. Descend via Stella Point back to Barafu for breakfast, then down to Millennium Camp.
Day 6: August 23, 2027 – Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate
Distance: 12 km / 7 miles | Hiking Time: 5–7 hours | Elevation: 12,434 ft to 5,380 ft | Vegetation: Rain Forest.
A gentle final descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate to collect your summit certificates before returning to Moshi for celebrations.
