Overview
The 8-day Lemosho Route is widely recognized as one of the most scenic and rewarding trails on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering breathtaking panoramic vistas from multiple sides of the mountain. Perfect for climbers seeking a balance of low crowds, stunning natural scenery, and a remarkably high summit success rate, this route is ideal for both beginners and experienced trekkers. The generous 8-day duration ensures optimal acclimatization.
The trek begins on the western slopes at Londorossi Gate, taking you through lush rainforests up onto the magnificent Shira Plateau during the first two days. The trail then trends east toward Lava Tower, descending into the dramatic Barranco Valley via the Southern Circuit before your final summit push from Barafu Camp.
What to Expect
Following a scenic 4-hour drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, your trekking adventure begins on the western side of Mt. Kilimanjaro. As you ascend, you will journey through diverse ecological zones—from vibrant alpine meadows down to permanent arctic ice fields. Gradual elevation gains coupled with structured acclimatization days maximize your chances of standing victorious at the Roof of Africa.
With magnificent views, rich flora and fauna, and reduced foot traffic compared to other routes, the Lemosho Route remains a top recommendation from Pamoja Kilimanjaro & Safaris.
