The trail continues eastward toward Lava Tower, descending into the dramatic Barranco Valley via the Southern Circuit before making the ultimate push for the summit from Barafu.

Following a scenic 4-hour drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, your trekking adventure begins on the western flanks of Mt. Kilimanjaro heading toward the famous Shira Plateau. You will transition through distinct ecological climate zones, ranging from dense rainforest to alpine desert and Arctic glacier conditions. Day 0 : Arrival Day (July 19, 2027) - Airport Transfer to Moshi
You will be welcomed at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred comfortably to your hotel in Moshi town. You will meet our lead Kilimanjaro trekking expert for a thorough pre-climb briefing and equipment check before resting for the night.

Day 1 (July 20, 2027) : Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa
Elevation: 7,742 ft to 9,498 ft
Distance: 6 km/4 miles
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Habitat: Rain Forest
We depart Moshi for Londorossi Gate for park registration formalities, then drive directly to the Lemosho trailhead. Upon arrival, we begin hiking through pristine, undisturbed rainforest leading up to our first evening campsite.

Day 2 (July 21, 2027) : Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp
Elevation: 9,498 ft to 11,500 ft

We leave the rainforest behind and enter a sweeping savannah of tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock. As we ascend through lush rolling hills and cross clear mountain streams, we reach the edge of the Shira Ridge before descending slightly to Shira 1 Camp, where you will catch your first magnificent view of Kibo across the plateau.

Day 3 (July 22, 2027) : Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut

We spend a full day exploring the magnificent Shira Plateau, walking eastward across open moorland toward Shira 2 Camp before diverting to Moir Hut—a secluded campsite nestled at the base of Lent Hills. Optional walks up Lent Hills offer wonderful altitude acclimatization opportunities.

Day 4 (July 23, 2027) : Moir Hut to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Elevation: 13,800 ft to 15,200 ft down to 13,000 ft

We climb steadily up a rugged ridge heading southeast toward the striking Lava Tower rock formation (300 ft tall). Afterward, we descend through the remarkable Senecio Forest down to Barranco Camp at 13,000 ft. Spending daytime hours at higher elevations before sleeping lower is a textbook method for superior altitude acclimatization.

Day 5 (July 24, 2027) : Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley
Elevation: 13,000 ft

Following an exciting scramble up the famous Great Barranco Wall, we traverse the rolling southern circuit trail beneath the southern ice fields until arriving at the scenic Karanga Camp.

Day 6 (July 25, 2027) : Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp

The trail from Karanga connects to the stark, windswept high alpine desert of Kilimanjaro. Barafu Camp serves as your high-altitude base camp, prepared specifically to support your midnight summit attempt.

Day 7 (July 26, 2027) : Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak & Descent to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 15,331 ft to 19,341 ft, descending to 10,065 ft
Distance: 18 km/10 miles

Habitat: Arctic / Rainforest
Starting around midnight, we begin our strenuous push toward the summit under the stars. This represents the ultimate physical and mental test of endurance against the cold mountain winds. Passing Stella Point (18,900 ft), you will witness an unforgettable sunrise over Mawenzi Peak before reaching Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa.
Following celebration photos at the summit, we descend directly back down to Mweka Hut camp, stopping briefly at Barafu Camp for lunch. Mweka Camp rests comfortably in the upper forest zone for a celebratory final dinner and deep sleep.

Day 8 (July 27, 2027) : Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

On our final morning, we complete the descent through the lush lower rainforest down to Mweka Gate to collect your official summit certificates. Our transport vehicle will meet you at Mweka Village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi.
