2027 Tour Plan & Itinerary
Day 0 (June 23, 2027): Arrival in Tanzania - Transfer to Moshi
You will be welcomed at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Moshi town. Meet your lead mountain guide for a thorough briefing and gear check before resting for the night.
Day 1 (June 24, 2027): Moshi/Arusha to Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
Elevation: 2,250 m to 2,750 m | Distance: 18 km | Hiking Time: 3 hours
Drive to Londorossi Park Gate, register, and drive up to Lemosho Glades to begin trekking through lush rainforest trails to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp.
Day 2 (June 25, 2027): Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira Camp 1
Elevation: 2,750 m to 3,500 m | Distance: 12 km | Hiking Time: 5 hours | Habitat: Moorland
The trail steepens entering the giant heather moorland zone, crossing Shira Ridge before descending gently to Shira Camp 1.
Day 3 (June 26, 2027): Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2
Elevation: 3,500 m to 3,840 m | Distance: 6 km | Hiking Time: 2 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
A gentle walk across the plateau leading to Shira Camp 2. Perfect acclimatization day with optional shorter walks nearby.
Day 4 (June 27, 2027): Shira Camp 2 via Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Elevation: 3,840 m to 4,630 m (Lava Tower) down to 3,950 m | Distance: 15 km | Hiking Time: 7 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Hike east up to the striking Lava Tower for high-altitude acclimatization, then descend into the magnificent Barranco Valley beneath the Great Barranco Wall.
Day 5 (June 28, 2027): Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Elevation: 3,950 m to 4,600 m | Distance: 9 km | Hiking Time: 8-9 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Scale the iconic Barranco Wall, cross the Karanga Valley, and continue trekking along the southern circuit to reach Barafu Hut ahead of summit night.
Day 6 (June 29, 2027): Summit Day! Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 4,600 m to 5,895 m (Uhuru Peak) down to 3,100 m (Mweka) | Distance: 5 km ascent / 13 km descent | Hiking Time: 7-8 hrs ascent / 4-5 hrs descent
Begin your midnight ascent through heavy scree between glaciers to reach Stella Point at sunrise, continuing on to Uhuru Peak. Descend back to Barafu for a short rest before heading down to Mweka Camp.
Day 7 (June 30, 2027): Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi
Elevation: 3,100 m to 1,640 m | Distance: 10 km | Descent Time: 3-4 hours | Habitat: Rainforest
Enjoy a celebration breakfast, complete your trek with a scenic descent to Mweka Gate, receive your official certificate, and transfer back to Moshi for a hot shower.
