Detailed Daily Itinerary
Day 0 (August 07, 2027): Arrival in Tanzania - Airport Transfer to Moshi
You will be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport and privately transferred to your hotel in Moshi town. Enjoy a pre-climb briefing with your lead trekking expert and review your gear before resting for the night.
Day 1 (August 08, 2027): Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Elevation: 5,380 ft to 9,350 ft | Distance: 11 km | Hiking Time: 5-7 hours | Habitat: Rain Forest
A short drive from Moshi brings you to Machame Gate. Begin trekking through winding trails surrounded by lush rainforest canopy up to Machame Camp.
Day 2 (August 09, 2027): Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp
Elevation: 9,350 ft to 12,500 ft | Distance: 5 km | Hiking Time: 4-6 hours | Habitat: Heath
A shorter but steeper climb leaves the forest behind. Enjoy panoramic views of the plains, Kibo peak, and Mount Meru while navigating high-altitude vegetation like Lobelia deckenii.
Day 3 (August 10, 2027): Shira Cave to Lava Tower down to Barranco Camp
Elevation: 12,500 ft to 15,190 ft (down to 13,044 ft) | Distance: 10 km | Hiking Time: 6-7 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Trek east toward the iconic Lava Tower formation, then descend through the striking Senecio Forest into Barranco Valley. This "climb high, sleep low" profile optimizes acclimatization.
Day 4 (August 11, 2027): Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Elevation: 13,044 ft to 13,106 ft | Distance: 5 km | Hiking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Conquer the non-technical but thrilling Great Barranco Wall, then traverse rolling hills and valleys into the scenic Karanga Valley.
Day 5 (August 12, 2027): Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Elevation: 13,106 ft to 15,331 ft | Distance: 4 km | Hiking Time: 4-5 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Connect with the Mweka Trail and hike up to the rocky alpine ridge of Barafu Hut. Rest early and enjoy an early dinner to prepare for midnight summit attempts.
Day 6 (August 13, 2027): Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak & Descent to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 15,331 ft to 19,341 ft (descent to 10,065 ft) | Distance: 18 km | Hiking Time: 13-14 hours | Habitat: Arctic
Begin your alpine push around midnight through freezing conditions. Reach Stella Point for a majestic sunrise, then press on to **Uhuru Peak**, the highest point in Africa! Afterward, descend safely to Mweka Camp.
Day 7 (August 14, 2027): Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate & Return to Moshi
Elevation: 10,065 ft to 5,380 ft | Distance: 10 km | Hiking Time: 3-4 hours | Habitat: Rain Forest
Enjoy a celebratory final descent through the lower rainforest to Mweka Gate where you will receive your official summit certificates before transfer back to Moshi.
