2027 Tour Plan & Itinerary
Arrival Day: (September 9, 2027) - Transfer from Airport to Moshi
You will be welcomed at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Moshi town. Meet your mountain lead for a comprehensive briefing and gear check before resting for the night.
Day 1: (September 10, 2027) - Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Distance: 11km / 7 miles | Hiking Time: 5–7 hours | Habitat: Rainforest.
Drive from Moshi to Machame Gate through local Chagga villages. Complete registration formalities and begin trekking through the lush rainforest up to Machame Camp.
Day 2: (September 11, 2027) - Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp
Distance: 5km / 3 miles | Hiking Time: 5–6 hours | Habitat: Heath.
A shorter yet steeper trek leaving the forest behind. Gain higher altitude to enjoy sweeping views of the plains, Kibo peak, and Mount Meru while navigating unique alpine vegetation like giant lobelias.
Day 3: (September 12, 2027) - Shira Cave Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Distance: 10km / 6 miles | Hiking Time: 6–8 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert.
Traverse high moorland underneath the striking Lava Tower. Following the crucial acclimatization principle of "climb high, sleep low," descend to scenic Barranco Camp nestled beneath the Great Barranco Wall.
Day 4: (September 13, 2027) - Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Distance: 9km / 5 miles | Hiking Time: 8–10 hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert.
Ascend across bleak scree slopes toward Barafu Camp at high altitude. Rest early, hydrate, and prepare for the midnight summit push.
Day 5: (September 14, 2027) - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Millennium Camp
Distance: 5km ascent / 7km descent | Hiking Time: 6–8 hours climb, 2–4 hours descent | Habitat: Arctic to Heath.
Begin your summit attempt around midnight via Stella Point to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m) at sunrise. Enjoy breathtaking glacier views before descending safely to Millennium Camp for a well-deserved rest.
Day 6: (September 15, 2027) - Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate
Distance: 12km / 7 miles | Hiking Time: 5–7 hours | Habitat: Rainforest.
A pleasant descent through the rainforest leads to Mweka Gate where you receive your official summit certificates. Vehicles transport you back to Moshi for celebratory drinks and relaxation.
